How does it work? The Plasmacluster™ ion generator breaks down water vapor (H₂O) in the refrigerator compartment and generates a plasma of positive hydrogen ions (H+) and negative oxygen ions (O₂ -). These ions cluster around micro-particles including airborne mold fungi, bacteria, viruses and allergens. A chemical reaction occurs on the cell membrane surface whereby these ions are transformed into OH radicals, powerfully active but unstable molecules which rob the harmful substance of a hydrogen atom (H). They inactivate the harmful substances by severing the protein on the cell membrane and then instantly bond with the removed hydrogen (H), re-forming water vapor (H₂O).
